You may find yourself in a terrible situation if the water shuts off after you’ve used the toilet. The water isn’t going to come back on any time soon, and you don’t want to cause a ‘stink’ in the neighborhood. Lamenting that Aqua-man isn’t really going to help in this situation, here is a useful toilet hack if you ever find yourself in such a conundrum.

Pull the Flush Harder

When you flush, your tank gets replenished with water for the next flush. If someone hasn’t used up that precious liquid, then you’re in luck. Try pushing down the throttle forcefully, so that you can use up any last vestiges of water. If this doesn’t work, don’t be disheartened there’s are others points that can help you.

Find a source

Find a water source nearby. This could be your next door neighbors or the building tank.

Take a bucket and fill it up with this accumulated water.

Be water my friend

Once you’ve collected at least a gallon of water, you’re ready for the task ahead. Remember to pour the bucket of water gently at first and then all at once. This is to make sure all the contents of the toilet are flushed thoroughly and there is no residue. Upturning the bucket all at once will splash you with residue. Remember, water can flow or it can crash.

Now that you’ve cleaned up the mess, it is time to think about the future. Here are some tips on how to save a gallon of water. They may come in handy if you find yourself in such an unspeakable situation again.

Stockpile

Save up water so that you’re prepared for just such a situation in the future.

Shower in a bucket

While let those extra droplets go to waste? Stand in a bucket while taking your shower. The hot water will collect in the bucket for use later. Hot water has the additional benefit of killing germs in the toilet. Don’t let this precious resource go to waste!

Find your goldfish a new home

In case, you have an aquarium at home. You might want to consider temporarily relocating your pet fish so that you can deal with your ‘water problem.’ Do not try this with your neighbor’s fish though.

Worse comes to worse, you can always call emergency services for a fire truck.

It is likely that not following these hacks correctly may result in embarrassing consequences. Edmonton plumbers can help you resolve such consequences of your actions.
