If you are facing any kind of plumbing problems in your home but not sure what it is exactly, you are not alone. Even if you have a well built and maintained plumbing system, here are some common plumbing defects that you must be acquainted with.

Bad Water Pressure
Low or high water pressure affects the force of water in faucets and appliances. Low water pressure is caused because of the defective pressure regulating device, deposits or leaks in the pipes, moving of valve lever, etc. High water pressure is mainly seen in homes that have a high supply of water from the main source. High pressure can be harmful to pipes as well as the appliances. Installing a proper pressure regulating device or valve can help you maintain the correct pressure.

Pipe Leakages
Leaks occur due to cracks or pinholes in the exposed pipes or those located inside the walls. Ample of water is wasted because of pipe leakages. This leaking water dampens the walls, making them look ugly and dirty. Damp or wet walls cause unpleasant earthy odor and mold growth. Fix pipe leakages using a shark bite, rubber and metal clamp or by sealing it with an Epoxy seal.

Running Toilets
The water running even after flushing the toilet leads to a lot of water wastage and hence, heavy water bills. Running toilets are generally caused because of the inappropriate float position, the wrong size of the chain connecting the flush lever and the rubber flapper or warped or broken flapper. High water pressure also leads to running toilets. This can be prevented by fixing the chain length, float position or replacing the flapper.

Dripping Faucet
A faucet that leaks even after closing it is a serious yet common plumbing defect. This leaking faucet can not only annoy you with its low, dripping sound but also result in high water bills. Avoiding a dripping faucet causes continuous leakage and wastage of water by sending liters of water down the drain by the end of the day. This issue arises due to the damaged or incorrect positioning of the washer in either the faucet stem or below the valve. You can fix a dripping faucet by replacing either or both of the washers.

Clogged Drains, Sinks, Toilets, etc.
Accumulated large and unnecessary waste products in the plumbing system block the way and prevent easy drainage of water. Hence, avoid flushing waste through drains and toilets, but ensure that you dispose them off using the correct ways. You can use a plunger to clear the clogged drains, toilets, and sinks. Flushing with baking soda and vinegar can help as well.

Now that you know the common plumbing defects, you can relate your problem and identify the plumbing issue. If these home hacks do not help you to get rid of your plumbing problems, call our Edmonton plumbing service. Our skilled professional plumbers have years of experience and hence, they can easily identify the problems and also fix them.
