Have you been using a hand plunger to get rid of clogs in your house drains? Do you still face water logging problems? This means that your drains are severely clogged and need something more efficient and strong to unclog them. Here are some easy home remedies for unclogging drains without too much of efforts.
This is the easiest, quickest, and most inexpensive way to unclog simple clogs. Boil a gallon of water. Simply pour it over the clogged drains in 3 stages, allowing the water to work for a few seconds in between.
Baking Soda and Vinegar
Pour 2 cups of boiling water into the drain. Pour half a cup baking soda into the drain and let it sit for 5 minutes. Now, pour half a cup of warm vinegar. You will notice white fizz coming out of the drain. Let the mixture work for about 20 minutes. Flush the mixture down with the boiling water. This is a natural alternative for chemicals.
Caustic Soda and Water
Wear rubber gloves and an eye gear before starting this method. Caustic soda is highly reactive chemical that can cause skin burns. Once ready, fill a bucket with 3-4 gallons of water. Add 3 cups of caustic soda and stir with a scrap wooden piece. Let it sit for 5 minutes till it begins to fizz and heat up. Pour this fizzing solution into the clogged drain and leave for 30 minutes. Flush the drain with boiling water.
Wet and Dry Vacuum
If you have a wet and dry vacuum, this one is an ideal method for you. Attach the hose of your vacuum to the drain opening. Create the tightest seal over the drain. Now, set the vacuum to ‘blow’ position. This air pressure created inside will break the clogs. If this doesn’t work, change to the ‘suck’ position. This will suck the clogged materials and create less mess around. Switching between both of these positions several times will give the cleanest drains.
Boil a liter of water. Mix half a cup of liquid dish detergent and boiled water. Pour this hot soapy solution down the drain. Both, detergent and hot water will break the clog and help in unclogging drains.
Take a regular wire coat hanger and straighten it. Bend one end to make a hook-like structure. Use this hooked hanger to break the clogs. Simply push it inside the drains and fish it several times. When you have removed enough quantity of clog waste, pour hot water over the drain. You can also use an auger or a drain snake instead of a wire hanger.
